DAYTON BAR ASSOCIATION HONORS EXTENSIVE PRO BONO EFFORTS OF LOCAL LEGAL COMMUNITY
DAYTON - The Dayton Bar Association’s Annual Holiday Luncheon, on December 12, 2013, will celebrate the Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project’s 25th Anniversary and honor the numerous attorneys, law firms and legal professionals who have donated their time and effort to provide indigent clients with free access to the legal system.
Over the past 25 years, these dedicated volunteers donated more than 8,700 hours of work to 22,000 cases for individuals who, without this commitment of service, would have no legal recourse. These pro bono efforts are conservatively valued at $14 million. “I am continually impressed by the willingness of members of the legal profession to give their time to those not able to afford access to justice,” said Helenka Marculewicz, Executive Director of the Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project.
Bill Wheeler, Executive Director of the Dayton Bar Association, stated, “The Association is proud to support the Volunteer Lawyers Project and the valuable service it provides for our community. The Holiday Luncheon is a most appropriate time to recognize the significant gifts of time and talent given by members of the legal profession.”
