Public Service Events
The Dayton Bar Association is committed to serving not only the legal profession, but, the community in which we live and work. In addition to offering a wide variety of resources for the citizens of the greater Miami Valley, the Dayton Bar Association conducts a number of public service events throughout the year, including:
The Wills For Heroes Program
As the first organization in Ohio to partner with the National Wills For Heroes Foundation, the Dayton Bar Association schedules quarterly events to provide basic wills and probate documents, at no charge, to local First Responders (Firefighters, Police and EMTs). Our members volunteer their time to provide these services to those who protect us each and every day. Since the first event in 2008, more than 550 First Responders have been served by our members. District High School Mock Trial Competition
Each year, member Judges, Magistrates, Attorneys and Bar Association Staff volunteer their time to conduct the Robert N. Farquhar Montgomery County Mock Trial competition for area high school students. The day of competition concludes with a recognition ceremony and the winning teams advancing in the state competition.
Liberty Bell Award
In conjunction with the Annual Law Day festivities, The Liberty Bell Award is presented by the Dayton Bar Association to one citizen who has rendered outstanding service to the community.
Any individual except a lawyer or judge may be considered. All fields of endeavor are intended for inclusion, such as education, business, sciences, communications, labor, government, religious professions and youth organizations.
Holiday Events for those in Need
Each December, during the holiday season, members of the DBA Public Service/Congeniality Committee conduct an event to serve needy families in our community. Funds are donated to purchase items needed by adults and children of these families.
